Leesylvania State Park is looking for self-motivated and organized individuals to assist park management with administrative functions. This position provides all aspects of administrative support for the state park. Successful candidates will assist park visitors by providing information on Leesylvania’s facilities and programs along with local points of interest and attractions in the area. Operates electronic cash register and collects appropriate user fees while maintaining required revenue accounting forms and reports. Performs registration procedures for boat storage leases, fishing tournament participants, and special use permits.
The Administrative & Office Specialist II assists with seasonal staff scheduling, serves as a dispatcher on relaying calls to both maintenance and Park Law Enforcement personnel. Responsible for incoming calls and guest services and provides accurate and detailed information on group camping site and referral to the VA state parks reservation procedures, directions, pricing, trail information, park programs and local area information service not offered at our park. Oversees proper revenue collection in park office and ranger contact station registers. Assists with training new hire and returning seasonal staff in areas such as revenue collection, shift settlement, merchandise sales, and customer service. Must be available to work various shifts/retail locations, work weekends, and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good communication skills, both orally and written. Ability to accurately calculate change for park customers and balance revenues collected. Ability to work harmoniously with the public, volunteers, co-workers, and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous clerical experience. Ability to answer telephones, copy, and type correspondence. Experience working with and serving the public.
Special Requirements:
Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. Employer participates in eVerify. There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with the job. Employees are limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30.
Must be available to work all holidays (except Thanksgiving & Christmas), needed weekends, and various shifts. Must have valid driver license and transportation to and from work. Typical example of schedule would be M-W-F and every other weekend. Schedules can be adjusted to accommodate employee but must fit the needs of the park. Fall/Winter shifts mainly 8am-4:30pm; Spring/Summer shifts range from 6am-2:30pm, 8am-4:30pm, 10am-6:30pm, and 12pm-8:30pm.
