DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.
Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications (Word) for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.

Leesylvania State Park is currently seeking a responsible, goal-oriented individual who can work as part of a team, take direction from others, and is capable of working unsupervised. This position focuses on the daily upkeep of park facilities, grounds, and positive interaction with a diverse public. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, restroom and facilities cleaning, trash removal, and landscaping. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, performing basic upkeep and maintenance of equipment and vehicles; report repair needs as required to supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a general knowledge of best practices for cleaning and upkeep of facilities including the safe use of cleaning supplies and associated personal protective equipment (PPE); basic care and use of automobiles, hand tools, and power tools. Must be willing to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and closing shifts. Must be able to utilize mobile device applications for the purpose of scheduling and work task completion and tracking. Must be 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation to and from work.
Additional Considerations:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding janitorial services, groundskeeping and landscaping. Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heavy equipment usage, and masonry is not necessary but preferred.
Special Requirements:
For all positions, experience is not required, but is preferred. Scheduling requires mandatory staffing on weekends and holidays and should be anticipated by the employee. We provide on the job training. Employees may be required to perform other park related duties during emergencies, or on a non-recurrent basis. Seasonal summer jobs can be an outstanding first step toward a lasting career with the park service.
There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with the job. Position does not include benefits. Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. A background check is required to include a criminal history record check. Employer participates in e-Verify.

Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.
Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night prior to a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins and yurts are included; one night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
