DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.
Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications (Word) for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.
Certain positions require a criminal background check, a conflict of interest financial statement or both. Law-enforcement positions require a fingerprint-based FBI investigation. DCR is an EEO/AA/ADA Employer.

Hiring Rate: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour

Contact Rangers provide the first point of contact for visitors at the Visitor Center and Contact Station. Primary duties include collecting entrance fees, registering campers, providing information on and orientation to the park and its facilities, as well as providing information and orientation to other local activities and attractions. Visitor contacts are to be conducted in an outgoing, friendly and professional manner, including a professional appearance. Work also includes processing gift shop and park pass sales, keeping the Visitor Center and Contact Station clean and well ordered, development of park promotional materials such as fliers and brochures, assisting with parking operations, and other duties as assigned.
Positions work 1 to 3 days per week, including weekends, holidays and some evenings. These are year-round, part-time positions, with more limited hours December through February. The position requires successful completion of a confidential criminal history background check.
Minimum Qualifications: Ability to perform highest standard of customer service to general public and co-workers in a professional courteous manner. Ability to memorize and recall factual information. Required to operate a computer and cash register. Candidates must excel in cash management.
Preferred Qualifications: High school graduate or actively enrolled in school preferred. Prior experience in park work or a related field is desirable. General knowledge of park operations required and ability to meet/work well with the public and co-workers.
Special Requirements:
Experience is not required, but is preferred. We provide on the job training.
Weekends and holiday work required. Memorial Day and the 4th of July are required work days for all positions. Employees may be required to perform other park related duties during emergencies, or on a non-recurrent basis.
