Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

What are pollinators, and why are they important? What are the primary threats to pollinators, and what can you do in your backyard to help save them? All of these questions and more will be answered at the Sky Meadows Pollinator Workshop, a collaborative project of Sky Meadows State Park and the Shenandoah Chapter Virginia Master Naturalists. Hear informative presentations on pollinator conservation from knowledgeable Virginia Master Naturalists, including a hike to explore pollinator plots in the park. Construct a Bee Hotel to display proudly in your yard. Receive a tray (4 pack) of native wildflowers to increase pollinator habitat in your backyard or balcony. Cost is $80.
