Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Join us as we paddle up Powell's Creek, get to learn about the invasive Northern Snakehead and learn some of the best techniques used to catch them in the Potomac. We can provide fishing rods and weedless lures, but if you have fishing equipment we recommend you to bring it. Register 24 hours in advance by calling us at (703) 583-6904 and leave a message. Participants should ideally be familiar with basic casting techniques. Meet at the Visitor Center 10 minutes early to receive your free parking pass and pay the program fee.

Fee: $15 dollars per person. Includes parking pass, lures, fishing gear, and canoes.
