Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Christmas for the Fish

December 4, 2019 - January 20, 2020. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Help ensure years of great fishing at Claytor Lake by donating your old Christmas tree to the park. Donated trees will be incorporated into reef structures to enhance habitat for game fish. Trees will be accepted until January 20.

All trees must be free of lights, tinsel, and other ornaments. Only real trees can be donated. Those making a tree donation will receive free park admission on the day of donation. Please follow our tree tag directions located at the drop site for proof of donation and parking pass receipt.

Interested in volunteering to help us deposit trees in the lake? Primary drop day will be January 22 and secondary/backup drop day will be January 28. Please meet at the marina parking lot at 9 a.m. Be prepared for adverse weather conditions and bring a pair of work gloves. Volunteers should be able to lift 50 pounds. If inclement weather is forecasted please call the Park Office.
