Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Come participate in an orienteering course, where you will learn basic navigation skills and get to put those skills to the test in a fun activity. For this activity, you will participate in an orienteering scavenger hunt using a provided map and compass to navigate your way through the Long Pond Trail. This activity will improve navigational, teamwork, and communication skills. Having a deeper understanding of basic navigation skills is a good way of reducing the risk of getting lost as well as increasing your confidence and knowledge. Come sharpen your navigational skills at Widewater State Park by navigating through an orienteering scavenger hunt course with just a map and a compass.
