Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Join rangers as they share facts and stories from a kayak. Voyage along Aquia Creek and learn about topics related to the diverse history, ecology, and culture of the Widewater Peninsula. Travel in a solo kayak or grab a partner and paddle in a tandem.

This program is limited to 10 participants, so registration is required. Children ages 6-12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the boat, and children ages 13-17 may paddle solo but must be under the supervision of a parent/guardian. All paddlers are required to wear a properly fitting PFD.

The cost of registration is $20 per person and includes all rental equipment and parking. Cost without rental equipment is $12 per person. Be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen, and dress to get wet. Please arrive at the visitor center at least 20 minutes prior to the start time to check-in.
