Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Celebrate Spring and Earth Day with programs and special events sure to appeal to your green thumb, including an annual plant sale fundraiser for the Friends of the Southwest Virginia Museum, butterfly garden workshop, and flower show. Participants in the flower show may drop off arrangements and specimens on Friday, April 22 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Participant's who attend the Butterfly Garden Workshop  will take home plants and design their own Butterfly Garden. The Butterfly Garden Workshop is $15. Entry fee for the flower show is $1 per plant. Local growers and plant enthusiasts are invited to participate in this event.

Plant Sale – 8am-2pm

Flower Show – 10am-5pm

Butterfly Garden Workshop – 12pm-1pm

Registration is required for the Butterfly Garden Workshop. Registration is due by Saturday, April 16. To register for the workshop, or for more information, please call the park at 276-523-1322.

The park will comply with the state Covid 19 regulations in place at the time the program is offered.
