Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Austinville First Day Hike

Jan. 1, 2022. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Take a hike through the mining history of the New River. Come out to the Austinville access of New River Trail to take a guided hike through the Austinville Tunnel and along the site of the former New Jersey Zinc Company's mining operation. Learn about the historical significance of the mining operations to both the local area and to the nation. The hike will last approximately 2 hours and leashed pets are welcome. Please dress for the weather.
