Voices in the Mansion - First in a Series of Lectures
Voices in the Mansion is a new Lecture Series at Chippokes State Park featuring Virginia authors from across the Commonwealth.
Jones-Stewart Mansion
Do you hear the Voices in the Mansion?
The Friends of Chippokes State Park will offer light refreshments and Hampton Roads Winery will be selling wine by the glass. What a wonderful way to spend a fall evening and get in the Halloween spirit.
More about the book. Author Elton wrote the book based on information and happenings that stem from paranormal events witnessed by Virginia State Park employees, volunteers and visitors. The haunted tales include accounts from Colonial Virginia, the Civil War and even modern times. There are 13 Virginia State Parks featured and of course includes our very own Chippokes State Park.
Patty Elton hails originally from Ohio, but resides in Powhatan Virginia. Her writing career began with Wildreness.com as an avid outdoor writer. She is a master naturalists, birder and lover of the outdoors. Her photographs have introduced thousands to the majesty of our nation's state and federal lands. Patty's fascination with the spirit world, and her first ghostly encounter, began as a teen living on a small farm in Ohio. She became intimately familiar with all the Virginia State Parks during her husband Joe Elton's 20 year career as Director of Virginia State Parks. Patty will be signing copies and have copies of her books available for purchase, cash or checks accepted.
Reservations must be made and purchased in advance, space is very limited. The $15 price includes parking, refreshments, entrance to the mansion and the lecture. Please call the park office at 757-294-3728 to prepay and make a reservation. Lecture location in the park: Jones-Stewart Mansion. Please follow signs to the parking area.
