Public hearing on Arlington County Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System permit to be held March 22
(RICHMOND) - A hearing to receive comments on the amended Arlington County Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, or MS4, permit will be held Friday, March 22 in Room 109 of the Arlington County Government Office Building. The hearing starts at 10 a.m.
The Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Board permit is issued under the federal Clean Water Act and the Virginia Stormwater Management Act. Arlington County has applied for reissuance of this permit.
The permit allows Arlington County to discharge storm water through a storm sewer system, known as an MS4. It establishes requirements for controlling stormwater discharges through the development, implementation and enforcement of an MS4 program. Discharges go into the county's rivers and streams that flow to the Potomac River and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay.
Depending on participation, time limits may be set for those giving oral statements. People are encouraged to submit written statements.
The draft permit, fact sheets and public notice information can be found by going to www.dcr.virginia.gov and clicking on "Policy, regulations and public comments," then "MS4s" and "Individual permits."
