Tidal Oligohaline Marsh (Beaked Spikerush - Saltmeadow Cordgrass Estuarine Fringe Type) - CEGL006611

Mixed stand of beaked spikerush (Eleocharis rostellata) and saltmeadow cordgrass (Spartina patens) in an oligohaline marsh along a tributary of Little Simoneaston Creek, southeast of Wattsville, Accomack County.  The salinity of tidal waters of this tributary are moderated by generous inputs of freshwater seepage from the adjacent slopes.  Wallops Island National Wildlife Refuge.
