Tidal Freshwater Marsh (Common Spatterdock Mudflat Type) – CEGL004472
A monospecific stand of common spatterdock (Nuphar advena) on a shallowly inundated mud flat along Holts Creek, tributary of the Pamunkey River in New Kent County.  Zones of wild rice-dominated freshwater marsh and tidal hardwood swamp occupy slightly more elevated wetlands in the background.  Cumberland Marsh State Natural Area Preserve.
