Coastal Plain Xeric Fluvial Terrace Woodland - CEGL006354
A dry, sandy, very open woodland of sand hickory (Carya pallida) and oaks, on a fluvial terrace bordering Ware Creek, a tidal tributary of the York River in New Kent County. The dominant graminoids are little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium var. scoparium) and purple three-awn grass (Aristida purpurascens). Ware Creek State Wildlife Management Area. © DCR-DNH, Gary P.
