Piedmont / Central Appalachian Sand Bar / River Shore (Low Herbs Type) – CEGL006483
In addition to active river shores, the low herbs type of sand bar community can occur in the draw-down zones of impoundments on rivers and large streams.  Here, creeping lovegrass (Eragrostis hypnoides) and other annuals form a "lawn" of many acres in the upper portion of the Carvins Cove Reservoir north of Roanoke in Botetourt County.
