A mixture of tall and low herbs on a silt bar along the Potomac River below Chain Bridge in Arlington County. Halberd-leaf rose-mallow (Hibiscus laevis), late thoroughwort (Eupatorium serotinum), dotted smartweed (Persicaria punctata), and creeping lovegrass (Eragrostis hypnoides) are the principal species.
