Glasswort Salt Flat – CEGL004308

Because it is not adjacent to dunes, the Magothy Bay salt flat has remained stable for many years.  In addition to being one of Virginia's largest occurrences of the community, it is also one of the most variable.  Here, seaside oxeye (Borrichia frutescens), one of the few associates of the glassworts, dominates in large patches.  Magothy Bay State Natural Area Preserve.
