Central Appalachian Pine - Oak / Heath Woodland – CEGL004996

Table-mountain pines (Pinus pungens) in the clifftop woodland on High Point Mountain in the Bull Run Mountains, a northern Piedmont monadnock in Fauquier and Prince William counties.  Despite their small size, the two trees in the photo have been aged at more than 125 years.  Bull Run Mountains State Natural Area Preserve.
