Basic Oak-Hickory Woodland / Savanna – CEGL003721

Rocky, fertile soils weathered from dikes and sills of diabase in the Fort Pickett training area support basic oak-hickory woodlands.  These have herb layers that are more forb-dominated and have higher diversity than those on acidic soils.
