Sandy oak-hickory woodland on small-stream bottom ecotone in the Fort Pickett controlled access training area.  The rhizomatous velvet sedge (Carex vestita) dominates the herb layer in the foreground.  Tommeheton Creek drainage, Dinwiddie County.
