Northern Piedmont Small-Stream Floodplain Forest – CEGL006492

Even-aged stand of red maple (Acer rubrum) and tuliptree (Liriodendron tulipifera) in a small-stream floodplain along Biscuit Run, just south of Charlottesville, Albemarle County.  Biscuit Run Park.  Most small-stream floodplain forests have regenerated after clearing, cultivation, grazing, and other disturbances.  It is therefore difficult to find mature stands and stands free of invasive weeds.
