Piedmont / Central Appalachian Rich Floodplain Forest – CEGL004073

Ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris var. pensylvanica) is a state-rare fern that is nevertheless locally common in rich floodplain forests of the Potomac Gorge in Fairfax County.  This stand occurs on private land near the mouth of Bullneck Run.
