Southern Piedmont Hardpan Forest – CEGL003714

Classic stand of Southern Piedmont Hardpan Forest dominated by post oak (Quercus stellata), pignut hickory (Carya glabra), and eastern needlegrass (Piptochaetium avenaceum).  The geologic setting of this site is uncertain.  On ridgetop near the Appomattox River, northeast of Farmville, Cumberland County.  High Bridge Trail State Park.
