Southern Piedmont Hardpan Forest – CEGL003714

Old post oaks (Quercus stellata) in a Southern Piedmont Hardpan Forest in Cumberland County.  The stand occurs in an area where numerous diabase dikes cut through a small wedge of Triassic siltstone.  Turkey Run Natural Area, Cumberland State Forest.
