Piedmont Granitic Flatrock – CEGL003857

The outcrops along Fine Creek near Fine Creek Mills in Powhatan County support the northernmost Piedmont granitic flatrock community in Virginia and globally.  The occurrence here is also one of Virginia's largest.  The pinkish granite exhibits slight exfoliation on the upper portion of the exposure, away from the stream.
