Southern Appalachian Chestnut Oak - Northern Red Oak / Great Rhododendron Forest on a sheltered ridge spur of Hurricane Mountain, west of Trout Dale in Grayson County.  In Virginia, this is an uncommon community type associated with submesic, north-facing slopes in the southwestern mountains.  Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
