Central Appalachian Northern Red Oak Forest - CEGL008506

Spring aspect of a Northern Red Oak forest on the northern Blue Ridge, with colonies of golden ragwort (Packera aurea) and common bluets (Houstonia caerulea) in flower.  Wood's sedge (Carex woodii) forms dense colonies in the left foreground.  Near Big Meadows, Madison County, Shenandoah National Park.
