Tangles of laurel-leaf greenbrier (Smilax laurifolia) and shining fetterbush (Lyonia lucida) under Atlantic white-cedar (Chamaecyparis thyoides), loblolly pine (Pinus taeda), and swamp tupelo (Nyssa biflora) characterize this stand of mixed evergreen non-riverine swamp forest in a sandhill swale south of Cherry Grove, City of Suffolk.  South Quay Sandhills State Natural Area Preserve.
