Central Appalachian Low-Elevation Acidic Seepage Swamp – CEGL007853
A highly unusual acidic seepage swamp, located on a slope of Back Creek Mountain above Neal Run in Bath County. Groundwater from a deep, permanently flooded sag pond located on a bench leaches through the bottom of the pond and is discharged below, creating patches of sphagnous, "hillside seepage swamp."
