Central Appalachian Low-Elevation Acidic Seepage Swamp – CEGL007853
Acidic seepage swamps share a number of common wetland species with their basic counterparts but completely lack calciphilic or nutrient-demanding plants such as marsh marigold (Caltha palustris var. palustris) and common brome sedge (Carex bromoides ssp. bromoides). At the same time, acid-loving species such as cinnamon fern (Osmundastrum cinnamomeum) are much more common. © DCR-DNH, Gary P. Fleming
