Piedmont / Central Appalachian Mafic / Calcareous Cliff – CEGL006479

A small cliff of red Triassic siltstone along Bull Run in Manassas National Battlefield Park, Prince William County.  A sheltered aspect and significant calcium in the rocks provides a foothold for a variety of mesophytic and nutrient-demanding species.
