Central Appalachian / Piedmont Acidic Cliff – CEGL004391

Weathered quartzite cliff face on High Point Mountain in the Bull Run Mountains, Fauquier County.  Scattered shrubs of mountain-laurel (Kalmia latifolia) and a few small ferns grow in the crevices.  Bull Run Mountains State Natural Area Preserve.
