Central Appalachian Basic Ash - Hickory Woodland – CEGL003683
Extremely gnarled eastern redcedars (Juniperus virginiana) in a metabasalt woodland on the Northern Blue Ridge, southwest of Devils Knob in Nelson County.  When it has been possible to extract increment cores, similar redcedars in other Blue Ridge woodlands have proven to be quite old (~250 years).
