Central Appalachian Basic Ash - Hickory Woodland – CEGL003683

White ash (Fraxinus americana)-dominated woodland on weathered outcrops of Catoctin Formation metabasalt breccia on western slope of the Watery Mountains in Fauquier County.  Wildcat Mountain Natural Area, The Nature Conservancy.  This community type is named for its association with basic rocks and soils.
