Riverside Bedrock Terrace Woodland – CEGL008449

The Riverside Bedrock Terrace Woodland is an acidic woodland known only from the Potomac Gorge in Fairfax County (and adjacent Montgomery County, Maryland) and the New River Gorge in West Virginia.  The stand shown here is dominated by Virginia pine (Pinus virginiana), growing in crevices of the strath terrace in Mather Gorge, below Great Falls in Great Falls Park.
