Central Appalachian Dry-Mesic Chestnut Oak - Northern Red Oak Forest – CEGL006057

Mixed chestnut oak - northern red oak forests are also widespread in the Central Appalachians, but lack most Southern Appalachian species.  This stand occurs on the north slope of Pearis Mountain above Bluff City in Giles County.  Eastern Divide Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
