DCR-DNH ecologist Karen Patterson collecting plot data in a very open, dry calcareous forest co-dominated by chinquapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii), eastern redcedar (Juniperus virginiana), and eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis var. canadensis).  On thin, rocky soils over limestone along the Powell River near Tyler Bend, Lee County.  Bowen Tract, The Cedars State Natural Area Preserve.
