Dry-Mesic Calcareous Forest (Sugar Maple - Northern Red Oak Type) – CEGL008517
A dry-mesic forest on a lower slope along the North River (Augusta County) underlain by calcareous shale.  This stand is dominated by sugar maple (Acer saccharum) and hickories (Carya ovata and Carya ovalis).  North River District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
