Maritime Loblolly Pine - Hardwood Forest – CEGL006040

Maritime forest with loblolly pine (Pinus taeda) and some oaks, and an understory of wax myrtle (Morella cerifera).  Southern part of Jamestown Island near Passmore Creek and the James River, James City County.  Colonial National Historical Park.  There is an ancient dune system here, and the stand may be a disjunct relict as it is quite removed from regular maritime influences.
