Many Eastern Shore maritime forests consist of nearly pure, even-aged stands of loblolly pines (Pinus taeda), which regenerated following hurricanes or the removal of mature hardwoods.  On eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay near Picketts Harbor, Northampton County.
