Maritime Loblolly Pine - Hardwood Forest – CEGL006040

The maritime forests at Kiptopeke State Park in southern Northampton County are some of the more mature and deciduous on the Eastern Shore.  The stand here contains mixtures of southern red oak (Quercus falcata) and willow oak (Quercus phellos), mockernut hickory (Carya tomentosa), and black cherry (Prunus serotina var. serotina), in addition to the ubiquitous loblolly pine (Pinus taeda).
