Maritime Swamp Forest (Red Maple - Tupelo Type) – CEGL004082

A rare stand of bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) in a maple-gum maritime swamp along a tributary of Whites Creek on Gargathy Neck in northern Accomack County.  The hydrological regime and shrub and herb flora of this forest differ from the bald cypress type of maritime swamp found in Virginia Beach City.
