Loblolly Pine / Sand Heather Dune Woodland – CEGL006052

Where the high dunes at Savage Neck come close to the Chesapeake Bay beach, the constant wind impacts are so strong that this loblolly pine (Pinus taeda) has been almost completely buried by blowing and migrating sand.  Savage Neck Dunes State Natural Area Preserve, Northampton County.
