Northern Bayberry Dune Scrub – CEGL003881

Fall aspect of dune scrub along the eastern shore of Back Bay in City of Virginia Beach.  Northern bayberry (Morella pensylvanica, with green leaves) and southern highbush blueberry (Vaccinium formosum, with red leaves) are the principal species in this stand.  Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
