DCR-DNH Natural Area Steward Darren Loomis examines plants in a large, recently drawn-down interdune swale between secondary dunes and maritime forest; common threesquare (Schoenoplectus pungens var. pungens) dominates, with low forbs such as coinleaf (Centella asiatica) and dotted smartweed (Persicaria punctata) underneath.  False Cape State Park and Natural Area Preserve, City of Virginia Beach.
