High-Energy Tidal River Shore (Arrow-Arum - Bulrush Mud Flat Type) - CEGL006578
A nearly pure stand of common threesquare (Schoenoplectus pungens var. pungens) on the western shore of the tidal Potomac River near Belle View, City of Alexandria. In addition to the normal turbulence of tidal fluctuations, ice-scouring is a more frequent occurrence along the Potomac than along the state's more southerly estuaries.
