High-Elevation Outcrop Barren (Greenland Sandwort Igneous / Metamorphic Type) – CEGL008509

Well-developed mat of Greenland sandwort (Minuartia groenlandica) and little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium var. scoparium) in the transition zone between two high-elevation outcrop barrens near the summit of Buffalo Mountain, Floyd County.  Buffalo Mountain State Natural Area Preserve.
