Piedmont / Coastal Plain Hemlock - Hardwood Forest – CEGL006474

Impressive stand of mature eastern hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) and American beech (Fagus grandifolia) on northwest-facing slopes and bluffs along the North Meherrin River in Lunenburg County.  Only minor defoliation from hemlock woolly adelgids was noted in August 2007, when the photo was taken.
