Appalachian Hemlock - Northern Hardwood Forest – CEGL006639

Eastern hemlock - hardwood forest on precipitous slopes at Lewis Spring Falls in Shenandoah National Park (Page County), in October 1980.  The hemlocks in the stand are now dead following outbreaks of the introduced insect pathogen hemlock woolly adelgid (Adelges tsugae).
